Grades 7 - 8
The focus of our Grade 7-8 program isn't on learning facts but on encouraging each student to explore, articulate, and develop his or her own individual beief system within the context of a supportive class community. We deeply value the power of reason and responsible spiritual development, and we want students to be intentional about their faiths. We talk about the "big" questions of faith: Is there a God? What happens when we die? Why is scripture important? We also ensure that students understand the historical and theological context of our Christian and Unitarian Universalist traditions.
We want students to be knowledgeable about and respectful of all religious traditions, so we also introduce them to "neighboring faiths" through visits to local temples, synagogues, mosques, and churches of various denominations.
