8 December 2009 Dear friends, It has been my honor to serve this congregation as its Associate Minister since the start of a three-year contract that began in 2007. This agreement, prepared by the Standing Committee and approved by the congregation, comes to its end in August 2010. I am writing to you today to inform you that I have notified the senior minister and Standing Committee that I will not be seeking another contract with the First Parish Church in Weston. My time here has been rich and rewarding. I hope that your memories of my sojourn with you are as happy as my own. It has been a pleasure getting to know your children and teenagers, worshipping and learning with them, as well as speaking from your pulpit what I hope has been a good word. I have had the benefit of a warm, collegial relationship with the Rev. Tom Wintle, with whom I have enjoyed working. Your church leaders and I have had searching and fruitful conversation about a possible second contract or an ongoing relationship. After careful and prayerful discernment, I have chosen to seek out a ministry that matches more closely my interests and style. The First Parish Church in Weston is a delightful congregation and I am certain that you will find the professional staff that will serve you well. Please accept my warmest wishes for a happy and healthy Christmas and New Year. Sincerely, |
